BMW E87/E90/E92 188L Disc Limited Slip Differential (LSD)
We recommend its exclusive use for competition.
Our Limited Slip Differentials (LSDs) are made from forged chrome-nickel steel and undergo special heat treatments, such as Super Sub-Zero or cryogenic treatment.
In addition, they undergo processes such as shot peening and WPC to reinforce core and surface strength, increase wear resistance, and extend service life. The high-strength material, along with the processes and treatments employed, not only minimizes friction and improves fatigue resistance, but also contributes to a significant reduction in overall weight and improved internal lubrication thanks to the use of large windows and multiple holes.
As a result, our LSDs offer increased durability (on average, maintenance-free for the first 2,000 km of special stages) and improved, stable performance.
Technical specifications:
These plate LSDs are distinguished by being the only product on the market with a 16-disc friction design. They also have the advantage of being the lightest on the market, weighing just 5.6 kg. These features contribute to improved traction and consistent performance, with stable preload over long periods of time, even in endurance racing.
As with all our plate LSDs, we use dual-ramp bodies, and our factory-fitted versions for this application are 35/67.5 and 35/90 degrees. Other ramp angles are available upon request.
We include a free set of crown/ring gear bolts, made from high-strength 12.9 grade steel, along with an extra-thick Belleville/conical washer for those who want to experiment with higher preload values.
As proof of our quality and reliability, we offer a 1-year competition warranty against material or manufacturing defects on our entire range of disc LSDs.
IMPORTANT Reminder:
We recommend using gear oils with anti-shock additives or friction modifiers, commonly referred to as "LS" (limited slip) gear oils, specifically for disc LSDs.
The most common SAE grade is 75W-140 LS and is only available in LS spec if a disc LSD is installed.
It is also advisable to add gear oil directly to the LSD during installation in the gearbox.
Please note that although we apply anti-rust oil during assembly at our factory, it does not provide lubrication.
